Fostering is the act of providing a homeless dog with a temporary home, along with all the love and care needed to ensure that the dog remains safe and well while the OPJ team finds them a forever home.
Often times dogs that are rescued by OPJ need temporary homes before a permanent forever home is found, especially if the dog is very young or has special care needs.
Although in some cases there is a pre-determined duration for fostering, in most cases however, the duration of fostering depends on several factors, and is usually agreed upon between the foster family and the OPJ team.
Fostering a dog is a very rewarding experience, and can have a huge impact on the lives of many dogs that are homeless and abandoned. By fostering, you are opening up your home temporarily to a dog in need, and giving that dog time to be ready for the adoption process.
Although there is no limit to how many dogs you can foster, in order to ensure that every dog has the care and attention that they need, we usually recommend no more than 3 dogs to be fostered in the same home at any given time.
If for any reason you are no longer able to foster, the OPJ team will work closely with you to ensure that the dog has a smooth transition either into another foster home, or into a permanent home.
